Copper foil is a key material for the negative electrode of lithium-ion batteries, which has an important impact on the energy density and other properties of the battery.

Copper foil and aluminum foil have the advantages of good electrical conductivity, formed oxidation protective film, soft texture, good adhesion, mature manufacturing process, and relatively low price.

Therefore, they are selected as the main materials for lithium battery current collectors. The positive potential of the lithium battery is high, and the oxide layer of the aluminum foil is relatively dense, which can prevent the oxidation of the current collector, while copper will undergo a lithium intercalation reaction at a high potential, so it is not suitable for use as a positive current collector.

Copper foil is also a negative electrolytic material.
